Tour Details

Thank you for your interest in the beautiful Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens. This covers commonly asked questions. Please book your tour at

Gardens are open are 10 AM to 4 PM. Gates close at 4pm. Gardens do not open early or stay open after closing.

Peak bloom is different each year and cannot be accurately predicted months ahead of time. If other plants are blooming earlier than usual, lilacs may bloom earlier. If other plants are blooming later, then lilacs may bloom later. The TODAY IN THE GARDENS link on the home page has bloom updates.

There are docents around the Gardens to answer your questions. Tours are self-guided and admission during Lilac Days is $5.00 per person – cash, check, Visa or MasterCard, however, Visa and MasterCard require a $5.00 minimum. We request that one person per tour group collect the admission from all guests on the bus and gives collected admission amount to the gate staff – indicating the total number of guests. This allows tour guests to go through the gates faster. For groups 12 over more, Bus driver is admitted free. For groups 15 or more, Bus Driver and Tour Guide are admitted free.

Just inside the gate are brochures with information about the Gardens. Restrooms are located near the water tower and the gift shop. The Gardens cover 4 acres including the Gardens, Gift Shop, Plant Sales Area, Potting Shed and Hulda’s Historic Home. Amount of time spent at the Gardens will vary by group. Because we are a nonprofit, everyone pays sales tax – no Oregon tax exemption. The $5 admission is all inclusive and includes tax.

No food is available at the Gardens, however, visitors may bring their own lunches or snacks. There are picnic tables located around the gardens and several restaurants in Woodland. We do not reserve tables. Please put trash in waste cans located around the Gardens.

Spring weather is variable so we recommend that your group be prepared for appropriate weather conditions.

After unloading, bus parking is available in parking lot on North side of the Gardens. At times, it is possible to park small 16-18 passenger buses in the front parking lot.

For the well-being of our tour visitors, we require that each group have an attendant or guide who will stay at the Gardens with the group and monitor the health and safety of the attendees in their group. As our Gardens are exclusively volunteer operated, we are unable to provide special supervision of attendees. Hulda’s Victorian home is not wheelchair or walker accessible; however, a video of the inside of the home can be viewed in the accessible Potting Shed behind the home.

The entire layout of the Gift Shop has been improved so it is easier to enter/exit and walk around in the wider aisles. Each year we have many new artists’ items in our Gift Shop. We look forward to seeing you in the Gardens this year.

There are several restaurants in Woodland that can handle small buses but only the Oak Tree and Guillianos Italian and Pizza can handle large 15 plus people groups. For large groups, all restaurants request reservations made in advance. The ilani Casino at Exit 16 can  accommodate large groups in their food court and in other restaurants at the Casino. Please contact them directly for information

For a list of Woodland restaurants please do an internet search. Please make reservations for your large group.

We look forward to seeing your group!
